The Lion Park, Johannesburg is a tourist destination and a park helping the breeding of endangered white lions and it also houses many lions cubs that have been orphaned for many reasons. There are separeate areas where the public are able to meet and stroke the three and four month old lion cubs which are housed here. The public also have oportunties to feed giraffes, watch cheetahs and hyenas being trained and to visit other animals such as African wild dogs, ostriches, zebra and waterbucks.

The lion Park is also home to older lions which are kept in an area the tourists can go on safari to see. It also looks after newly born cubs which for any reason have to be taken away from their mothers and the park hand raises them until they are able to look after themselves. Volunteers here stay on the campsites nearby. They help out around the Park, assisting the staff with caring for the younger cubs, supervising the tourists contact with the cubs, taking tickets from the tourists on safari and selling the giraffe food to the public. The lion Park is also renowned for raising and training lions for filming. The park and the lions here are used for such films as 'Dangerous Companions' and 'The white lion.'
