About
There's not a lot to know about the One Clone Company, but I figure it's worth sharing! Here you can learn more about:About: The One Clone Company
The One Clone Company began as a project between myself and a fellow Media student, Hazel Ray, under the original name of The Two Clones Company in early 2006. Between each other we created many original characters, stories and projects, the most profilic being Johnny the Squid, a lovable mascot of the One Clone Company. Together we produced two short projects, The Flying Lawnmower and Attack of the Giant Squid Thing.Unfortunately, Hazel left Media later in 2006 and the Two Clones Company disbanded, but was then reformed in 2007 when I started University as a lone "company". Which is what it is today!
The One Clone Company is my own personal collective and "title" when working on projects and original works. The majority of my works are experimental and deal with animation and innovating different styles together to produce original work.
There are many pros and cons to being a lone animator, which I hope show through my work. I think it's important to know your own limits and learn how to deal with them but still produce good quality work without compromising too much, which is always my main aim when working on any project I am involved in.
About: Heather Lawrence
Hello! This is just a little section about me. My name is Heather Lawrence, and I'm what I like to call a 'Media Hobo' in the sense that I rummage around the dustbins of the media world looking for things to use and eventually cobble whatever information I have together to create something new. I think it's a fitting approach to what I do, since it seems every time I try something new with Media I hunt around and then patch whatever I can together!I'm somewhat self taught with Media and nearly everything I know is from experimentation. I'm currently studying BA: Media Production and specialising in Animation at Northumbria University in my third year, and I'm intending staying on and doing a Master's degree if I can. I've lived in Newcastle upon Tyne all my life, but I'd love to study animation overseas if I get the opportunity to.
My personal interests are highly geeky, and I love cartoons; but I suppose any animator has to, right? I grew up reading the Beano and watching Cartoon Network which had an obvious influence on me, haha. Even now I love watching cartoons I grew up with and looking into new animations and seeing how they're made, taking whatever I can and applying it to my own work.
About: Characters
The One Clone Company has a selection of original characters which have and will feature in numerous animations and projects. Here's a list of the most profilic original characters from the One Clone Company.
Name: Johnny
Gender: Male
Species: Squid
Johnny was the first major original character created in 2006 as part of the Two Clones Company. Johnny is a godly, giant squid being, obsessed with trying to take over the world and destroy humankind. His simple green appearance and giant black eyebrows make him instantly recogniseable.
He doesn't take kindly to being compared to the Pacman ghosts, and has a strange obsession with Elvis. He had his fellow squids live on Pluto and make infrequent visits to Earth in an attempt to take over.
Name: Malice
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Malice was created in 2008 as part of an Animation project. Since her creation and her role in Mouse, Malice has become a frontal character of the One Clone Company, with her unimpressed expression, boggling eyes, characteristic blue dress and tiny golden crown. She is very quiet and rarely speaks, only thinks.
Malice lives in Twilight Town where she hides from the moon and lives with the mice hiding beneath the buildings. It's unknown whether she has any friends or family in the town. She doesn't know how to leave, otherwise she would.
About: Future Works
Currently, the One Clone Company is mainly working to fulfil University work deadlines and briefs. However, once this year is complete - and hopefully during this year - I fully intend making my own projects and animations aside from assigned work! While there are no finalised animation ideas, here is a short list of techniques and styles I intend using in my upcoming works:- Cel animation
- Pixel art and animation, as displayed in this site's current layout
- Further use of stop motion using armatures and puppets, including 'replacement' techniques, as utilised in Henry Selick's Coraline
