The cost of accommodation is not included in the conference fee. Delegates need to reserve their own accommodation, although the conference administrator is very happy to offer guidance and suggestions. Please contact [email protected] if you have any queries.
There are a wide range of hotels and guest house accommodation all within walking distance of the Law School where most of the conference sessions will be held.
We will be posting details of a selection of high quality accommodation options over the coming months.
We are often asked to specify one hotel as the “conference hotel”. This year we have selected the Vermont Hotel in Newcastle City Centre, about 10 minutes walk from the conference venue. This is a 4 star city centre hotel which formerly housed the debating chamber of the city council. It is opposite the Moot Hall, a neo-classical building which still functions as a Crown Court for serious criminal cases and it is next to the castle keep that gives Newcastle its name - although it is not very new (c.12th Century!). We have secured preferential conference rates for delegates of £80.00 per night. Please mention the International Journal of Clinical Legal Education Conference at Northumbria University when making reservations.

Conference pub!
We felt that we could not hold a conference in Newcastle, birthplace of Newcastle Brown Ale, without adopting a conference pub. We have decided to recommend the Bridge Hotel pub on Castle Square, just near the Vermont Hotel. This is adjacent to the High Level Bridge, a striking example of an early 19th Century double-decked road and rail bridge. It also has magnificent views of the Tyne Bridge which is a smaller (and we feel somehow more perfectly formed) version of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The pub itself is built on a medieval site and is a traditional style with snugs, wooden panelling, stained glass windows and mosaics. Oh, and the beer is very nice too. The pub is owned by the Sir John Fitgerald group, a small company specialising in authentic real ale bars.
If you would like to read more about the Tyne Bridge and view original footage of it being built in 1928 see the following link. http://www.bbc.co.uk/nationonfilm/topics/misc-work/tyne-bridge-construction-building.shtml.
